Polecat Martial Arts

The Polecat, a small land animal and cousin of the ferret. It has strong natural hunting instincts and a deadly bite when it has hold of its prey. The Polecat's diet varies between rodents, rabbits, lizards and sometimes even larger prey, Polecat's hunt their pray daily in order to survive. Despite it's cute looks, the Polecat is a fast and agile animal, and is loaded with aggression while hunting. The Polecat has to hunt with a degree of stealth, intellect, skill and has explosive and strong reactions in order to initiate a successful attack on usually much faster or bigger prey. The Polecat also has a very effective way of defending itself, it will fight, and it will to the death usually in scuffels that are intended to kill or seriously injure its enemy. In social quarters however, the Polecat is extremely loyal, trustworthy, playful, peaceful and respectful.

Self Defense

The Polecat Martial Art is similar to the way of the animal. Polecat Practioners ( known as Polecats ) will always adopt a peaceful and pleasant attitude in social circles, but attack or double cross this animal, confront or betray this animal will result in the polecat mounting a counter strike of potential epic proportions. The Polecat style relies on the direct ability to stop an opponent as quickly and as efficiently as possible upon been attacked. For example, The Polecat does not brawl, it would rather choke. The reason been, some people can take and dish out pain and they like to fight, but they can't fight if the life is been choked out of them. The polecat does not like or even want to fight, but for Self Defense reasons Polecats are trained to be capable of a successful Self Defense at all costs, especially if your life or wellbeing, or that of a friend or family depends on it. In contrast to how dramatic that sounds, the reality is that Polecat training encourages the defusing of all violent situations, and confrontations should never be allowed get as far as developing into a fight. Polecats will never strike first without very good reason and will always aim to either stop a fight or end a fight as soon as possible.

Respect

The basis of most martial arts is respect, Polecat is no different at all. Confrontation Avoidance is one of our most preached philosophies. Be respectful to all, never is there a need for causing physical, actual, verbal or mental harm to anything or anybody without very good reason. Calming down situations or avoiding confronting and violent situations should always be a top priority, but should the need arise rest assured the experienced and trained Polecat will know the most vulnerable places to strike, grab, slap, poke, prod, kick or bite to end the situation as soon as possible.

Pain Training

Teaching and retraining your body to handle pain is an important aspect of Polecat Martial Art. If you are attacked, and you are not used to accepting regular pain, most strikes upon you will place your body into panic mode or extreme shock mode, not to mention the pain itself and this could make the situation worse by making you more vulnerable to your attacker, panicking etc... but with regular pain training, body conditioning and Mind Control, we can learn to diffuse the bodies pain signals and instead we can use this as a trigger to launch our counter attack with the self Defense techniques that we train with in the Polecat style. Pain training can be anything from regular kumite or sparring using fair contact to repeated beating with kendo sticks.

MMA Techniques

Mixed Martial Arts is the best way to describe the Polecat Martial Art. Many MMA styles and traditional styles can be found through out the Polecat syllabus. Karate has a very strong influence in the style, although this is complimented with Okinowan Kyusho, Ju Jitsui, Judo and Wing Chun, blend this with a 1940's Navy Seal Military training influence and a love of British Wrestling and Boxing and the end result is simple, Polecat. A custom Self Defense style based on Mixed Martial Arts and Combat Sports.
