Polecat MMA

Polecat Mixed Martial Art is a style developed in-house at Mill Hill Dojo by Robert 'The Polecat' Johnson and Blind Sensei Mark Brown. Robert, who brings to the table experience in Wrestling, Wadu Ryu, Boxing and Jujitsu alongside Mark, who despite been blind has a field of expertise in Judo and Asian Karate. The pair have been training together daily for many years and together have enchanced and designed their own custom techniques and methods of strikes, stances, knock outs, combinations, kicks, takedowns and kata that collectively make up the Polecat Martial Arts Syllabus.

Polecat Martial Arts differs from many of the traditional Martial Arts, and here is why...

Techniques trained inside the Polecat Martial Arts are based on realistic modern day situations and not medievil theories. For example, Karate Kata's are based on romantic fictional fights of one man against the japanse sword weilding armies of hundreds of years ago, or dramatic castle conquering scenarios, while Polecat Kata's are based on dealing with the drunk trouble maker about to attack you on a night out or the gang of bullies waiting in the alley ahead of you after school. Polecat is therefor relevant and direct, Polecats moves, techniques and sequences need to be employed with explosive speed and power for their maximum effectiveness. More about the History of Polecat Martial Arts.

Polecat Techniques

Polecat uses a variety of Strikes, Kicks, Takedowns and Combinations. These can be from the most simplistic of moves like the body punch to the advanced pressure point striking combinations used to take down and in some cases knock out an opponent. Notice Polecat does not list any blocking techniques, this is because in Polecat Martial Arts every technique we employ against an opponent is counter strike based, therefor if a punch is thrown at us, we do not defend the punch with a block, we attack that same punch with a strike. This theory of technique maximises the opponents own attacking motions into our counter attack, making the attacker more likey to hurt themselves. Polecat never attacks first.

Polecat Martial Arts Basic Techniques are designed to give a brief introduction to the style, it is important to learn how to counter impose and this technique can be leanred by using the Body Check and then to master the essential Polecat Hand or Claw which is used for various striking applications throught the style.
