Polecat Hook

Polecat Hook is a powerful round house motion strike to the side of an opponents head or face area. The technique uses the ridge hand side or haito side of the Polecat Hand in a circular swining motion towards the attackers head.

Using the polecat hand in this technique allows use of the entire area between the inside wrist, upper Hammerfist and thumb areas of the hand to be engaged as the striking weapon. The strike is very linear upon impact and the Polecat Hand ensures that the wrist and knuckles stay well protected throughout this strike, a major advantage over traditional hook punches.

The target area should be the side of your opponents head, the circular roundhouse motion allows the strike to go around the front guard of your opponent and the ideal impact area would be into the ear, neck or jaw line of your attackers face.

In sparing, Polecat Hook strikes are greatly employed in combinations and have proven useful to draw out the attackers guard to the side more often which can then give you the window we require to strike directly back on to the center line of your opponent.
