Morote Tsuki

Morote Tsuki is a karate strike. Pronounced 'mo-roty-zuki'. Morote Tsuki is a double handed punching technique found in certain karate styles.

The technique originates from a sword technique that involved holding a large sword with both hands clasped firmly at the base for stability. The sword would be thrusted out the front to attack or kill an opponent. The karate equivelent of the move is simply to execute two strikes at the same time. This can be a double punch to two levels, for example a Jodan punch and Shita Tsuki punch at the same time.

Alternatively, the Morote Tsuki punch can be used at the same level, for instance a double strike to the colar bones as found in katas such as Saifa, punching an opponent down towards the ground is another use for this strike.
