Han Zenkutsu Dachi




Han Zenkutsu dachi is a karate stance. Pronounced 'hans-zen-cut-so-datch'. The front fighting stance of Han Zenkutsu Dachi is possibly the most common stance used in Martial Arts anywhere in the world. Originating in Okinowa, and used and thousands of different styles around the world.

Han Zenkutsu Dachi is quite simple, it's a short stance with dimensions of one shoulders width between the front foot and the rear foot, and the width between the feet is also just a single shoulders width.

The knees should be bent and you should sink down ever so slightly in this stance with the main aim of been able to spring off either the front foot or the back foot depending on the direction you need to move.

Both feet should be pointed comfortably towards the front, when moving in this stance try to keep as light as possible on the toes to provide quickness.
